Police change the process of purchasing firearms

The online sale of firearms has become a hot topic this week and as a result Police have made a change to how they manage remote firearms sales.

This means if you’re buying a firearm that you don’t intend to pick up (i.e. it will be delivered), you will need to provide further information in order for Police to verify your firearms licence and allow you to complete the trade.

Buyers will need to have specific information from sellers that they must provide to Police. Police will fill out their form and then email it to the seller themselves to say they’ve sighted the buyer’s licence.

Further details on this change and the information required from the seller is on our help page

Please note the firearms section of our Banned & restricted items list has been updated and there is further information on our blog.
