All pages now use HTTPS technology

This morning we made some changes to make the desktop version of Trade Me even more secure. Previously, the URL for some of our pages began with “http”, however they now start with “https” (the ‘s’ stands for ‘secure’).

We’ve had ‘secure’ versions of pages on the desktop site for several years where it matters the most (e.g. log in screens, payment screens, My Trade Me features, and the ‘Sell’ process). Today’s change goes above and beyond to ensure all pages work the same way, from a security perspective.

The only change you might notice is seeing the padlock icon on all pages throughout Trade Me, instead of just on the important pages, which makes it much harder for external parties to snoop in on network traffic.

Our apps and mobile-friendly websites are unchanged as they’ve been using HTTPS technology for a long time now.
