Upcoming changes for international traders

From the 1st of January 2005, selling on Trade Me will be restricted to members located in New Zealand and Australia. International members can still purchase goods on Trade Me, but will not be permitted to list items for sale.

In addition, from the 1st of February 2005, sellers located in Australia will be required to accept payment to a New Zealand bank account as one of their means of payment. The majority of Australians selling in New Zealand already have New Zealand bank accounts.

These changes will increase the quality of listings on Trade Me and improve the buyer experience for New Zealanders – which make up over 95% of our community.

The changes will also reduce the risk of fraud and mean fewer buyers are subject to unreasonable delays or additional costs from New Zealand customs.
