Pink Shirt Kev: Bullying is not OK

You might be wondering why our Trade Me kiwi, Kevin, is all decked out in a pink polo shirt today. The reason is because April 14 is Pink Shirt Day in New Zealand.

Pink Shirt Day is an anti-bullying initiative kicked off in Canada when a kid in Nova Scotia came to school wearing a pink shirt and was teased and bullied for it. To counteract it, his classmates came in the next day wearing pink shirts to stand up against them. They bought 50 pink shirts and stood in the school foyer handing them out to classmates.

Pink Shirt Day is now established in other countries around the world to raise awareness and help stop bullying in schools and elsewhere. In New Zealand, it is being supported by several organisations including the Mental Health Foundation.
