Safety ratings on Trade Me Motors

At Trade Me Motors we’re constantly working to provide more information to help with buying and selling vehicles.

76% of car buyers have said that vehicle safety is a key factor in their purchase decision, so we’ve teamed up with our friends at New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) to start providing safety ratings on car listings.

There are two types of safety ratings in NZ that you will now see on vehicle listings on Trade Me Motors – the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) and the Used Car Safety Rating (UCSR). Sell your car by number plate

We’re excited to announce a nifty new feature for Trade Me Motors that will make selling your car even easier.

With some help from our friends at NZTA, we can now grab a bunch of information about your car and fill in most of the listing details for you – all you need to do is provide us your number plate or VIN!

New Model Fields in Trade Me Motors

We’re currently working on ways to make it easier for members selling vehicles on Trade Me, and for buyers to find the vehicle they are looking for.

To achieve this, we’re making some changes to the sell process to improve the data we have available. As part of this work we’ve deployed a change today that alters the way we handle the ‘model’ attribute for used cars in Trade Me Motors.

Previously when you listed or relisted a vehicle, a free text field for the model attribute would need to be filled out. We’ve changed this to a drop-down list with a pre-determined set of models based on the chosen vehicle make. We’re also adding a ‘model detail’ field, which allows more specific detail on the sub-model or vehicle badge. More...

Trade Me Motors pricing has changed

We’ve made some changes to listing, success and promotional fees for selling vehicles on Trade Me. This includes cars, motorbikes, boats and other vehicles such as aircraft, buses, caravans & motorhomes, earthmoving machinery, horse floats, specialist cars, tractors, trailers, trucks and wrecked cars.

If you are selling a vehicle via a classified, the listing fee range has increased from the current fee range of $39-$59, to $39-$69. The listing fee depends on the asking price and pricing changes are as set out below:

- $39 for an asking price under $1,500 (was $39 for under $1,000 asking price)
- $59 for an asking price between $1,500-$10,000 (was $49 for $1,000-$10,000 asking price)
- $69 for an asking price above $10,000 (was $59 for over $10,000 asking price) More...

On 9 April we are making some changes to listing, success and promotional fees for selling vehicles on Trade Me. This includes cars, motorbikes, boats & other vehicles such as aircraft, buses, caravans & motorhomes, earthmoving machinery, horse floats, specialist cars, tractors, trailers, trucks and wrecked cars.
