The Christchurch earthquake

Written by Paul in General, Motors, Property, Jobs and Top Seller at 5:46pm, Tue 22 Feb 2011

It has been a black day in Christchurch with the 6.3 magnitude quake that struck just before 1pm today wreaking havoc. It is a real kick in the guts for the city, and our thoughts are with all those who have been affected in some way today.

Over on the message boards, people are helping each other out with advice and information, and it is operating as a place to share experiences from a very tough day. You can post your thoughts in the dedicated Christchurch quake area. When events like this hit, the message boards can be a pretty humbling place to be.

As far as we can tell, a couple of other good places to keep an eye on for information are Environment Canterbury's www.canterburyearthquake.org.nz website and the Civil Defence websiteMore...

Trade Me Jobs chuffed to hit #1 in October

Written by Paul in Jobs at 12:29pm, Tue 2 Nov 2010

Four years, two months and 24 days after it launched, Trade Me Jobs finished October as New Zealand’s #1 employment site, claiming the top spot after attracting 860,922 domestic unique browsers.

Our recently appointed Head of Trade Me Jobs, Pete Ashby, was chuffed to have hit number one as his team has been on a mission to attract more Kiwis than any other job site since Trade Me Jobs officially passed Seek on domestic page impressions back in July 2009.

- a simple, easy-to-use site that reflects the way Kiwis look for jobs;
- a commitment to non-metropolitan areas that had not been served well by others in the market; and
- making job advertising more affordable. More...

Written by Paul in General, Property and Jobs at 3:14pm, Thu 26 Aug 2010

Thanks heaps to everyone who took the time to click a vote for a Trade Me site in the 2010 People's Choice NetGuide Web Awards.

Brendon (Trade Me Property), Pete (Trade Me Jobs) and Terry (Trade Me) were all on deck at the flash awards ceremony in Auckland, and each of our three Trade Me musketeers ended up with a little yellow NetGuide cube to look after on the night. We've put them in pride of place in the foyer at Trade Me HQ.

Here’s what we picked up, thanks to the votes you sent our way: More...
